Director of Family Ministries
Mediapolis-Sperry UMC
The Director of Family Ministries is responsible for overseeing and promoting growth in all ministries involving Children and Youth in the Mediapolis and Sperry United Methodist Churches. At this time that includes Sunday School, Awana, Children’s Church, and Nursery at the Mediapolis Church, and Parent’s Night Out, Vacation Bible School, and Sunday School at the Sperry Church.

- A substantive, growing relationship with Jesus Christ
- A passion and calling for ministry with children, youth, and families
- A commitment to involve parents in the spiritual life of their children
- A readiness to equip and mentor volunteer leaders to fulfill their responsibilities
- An ability to organize and balance time between multiple projects
Education, training, and experience will all be considered. Computer skills are preferred.
As an equipping ministry, this will include these general expectations:
Vision: Understanding how these individual ministries fit in the overall vision of the church and working with current leaders to implement them.
Recruitment: /span>Having a growing knowledge of what people’s gifts and passions are and identifying potential leaders and helpers in ministry.
Leadership Development: Training volunteers for the tasks and responsibilities that need to be done and working closely with them as they gain experience.
Oversight: Constantly checking in with the ministry and leaders both “on site” and between meeting times in order to evaluate the ministry for opportunities to grow leaders and improve programs.
Collaboration: Making opportunities for dialog between education ministries and acting as a bridge between ministries and other staff/church resources.
